What is the composition of disposables?

Disposables basically come in layers. Firstly, you have the outer layer - usually cloth-like, sometimes plastic or made of natural material. You then have the absorbency material. the eco-brands have unbleached cotton wadding or pulp (wood cellulose). The supermarket and some eco-brands have Sodium Polyacrylate Crystals (more on that later...)as absorbency materials. On top of that is usally a liner or absorbency sheet of woven material. Followed by that, is a thin, tissue-like layer which sits against baby's skin and draws moisture away. Some manufacturers use aloe-vera or some sort of cream to help with irritation and soften the layer. Sewn in to the sides is the leak guards. The waist secures with sticky tabs or grip tabs, using a velcro-like fabric.
