There are basically three kinds - basic, middle-range, premium and eco-friendly.

* Basic - basic nappies are made as cheaply as possible and usually contain a lot of plastic or synthetic ingredients. They're pretty low on features too. For example, they usually have sticky tabs instead of grip tabs. They're suitable for Mums on a budget. Australian brands of budget nappies include, Savings (blue and white), Black and Gold, Homebrand.
* Middle-range nappies are a little better than basic as they contain less plastic, but may still not have as many features. For example, they may have sticky-tabs instead of grip tabs. Nappies in this category include: Snugglers, BiLo, You'll love Coles, Woolworths Select.
* Premium nappies are the most expensive of the supermarket brands but also the most feature-rich. They have added features such as grip tabs and cloth-like covers, and less plastic. Brands include: Huggies, Cuties, BabyLove.
* Eco-Friendly - There's a wide range of eco-brands available on the market now, with more and more supermarket brands coming on board and responding to customer demands for an eco-friendly product. The main fatures of eco-brands are that they are unbleached, don't contain plastic (or too much plastic), have more biodegradability than regular nappies and usually have components made from natural materials. Brands reviewed here are: Moltex Eco, Seventh Generation Chlorine-Free, Tushies Gel-Free, Babylove Ecobots and Nature Babycare.
